Remembrance Day kids craft – Poppies

Remembrance day is an anniversary of the men and women who fought for our freedom.  It is a day to remember their bravery.  We have made a very easy Remembrance Day kids craft to do at home.

You will need

Red Cupcake  wrappers

Black construction paper

Scissors

Green pipe cleaner

Step 1

Using scissors, cut the edge of the cupcake wrappers so they have a wobbly edge.  For each Poppy, you will need one larger size and one smaller sized cupcake wrapper.  You can change the sizes using the scissors.

Step 2

You will need to cut out a small circle from the black construction paper.  It should be between 1-2cm from one side to the other.

Step 3

Lay the biggest red ‘petal’ first, then lay the smaller one on top.  Lastly lay the black circle on the top of the smallest red ‘petal’.  Make sure it is centered.  You will need to cut a small hole in the middle of all of the ‘petals’ and black circle.  The green pipe cleaner will be going through the middle.  This will be the ‘stem’ of the poppy.  At the point where the pipe cleaner comes through the ‘petals’, make a small twist at the top and one twist under the ‘petals’, to prevent it falling off .

There you have it – You have just made a Remembrance Day Poppy
